If you like the HTC One or the HTC One Mini, but it’s a little too pricey, then don’t worry as HTC has you covered — with the announcement of the Desire 601 and the Desire 300, two devices that hope to bring many of the features from the company’s flagship to lower price points.
The Desire 601 is very similar to the company’s Desire 600 dual sim efforts, but with only a single SIM card slot. It’s also slightly thicker, coming in at 9.88mm compared to the 600 dual sim’s 9.26mm. The 4.5-inch qHD panel display is identical to the one found on the 600 dual sim though.
The extra thickness is probably down to the boost in performance and the larger battery inside, with a 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 paired with 1GB of RAM, and a 2100mAh battery.
The Desire 601 will also offer many of the modern day smartphone features we’ve come to expect, including 4G LTE capability, a micro SD card slot and 1080p video recording capabilities.
What it won’t have is HTC’s famous Ultrapixel sensor, although the camera will have a higher pixel count than the HTC One at 5MP. The camera will have HTC Zoe, Sequence shot, Always Smile, Object Removal and VideoPic though — as well as its own image processing chip dubbed HTC ImageChip.
If the Desire 601’s yet to be announced price is still too expensive, then maybe the Desire 300 is more your speed, bringing HTC’s BlinkFeed to the lower end of the market.
The Desire 300 will feature a 4.3-inch WVGA display, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1GHz and 512MB of RAM.
It will also have a 5MP snapper, but with all the bells and whistles taken off — such as HTC Zoe, which is not present.
Storage of the Desire 300 is incredibly smaller, with just 1.2GB available, but you’ll be able to expand it using microSD.
The battery is also removable, unlike the Desire 601, but that’s because it’s only a measly 1650mAh.
Both the Desire 601 and 300 are set to go on-sale this year, with the 601 aiming for September 2013 whilst the 300 should go on sale from October 2013.
