The HTC First will not be coming to the United Kingdom, What Mobile’s sister site Mobile News is reporting.
The device was the first to ship pre-loaded with the Facebook Home suite of applications, and sources have told Mobile News that the social networking giant had decided not to launch the phone in the UK due to poor sales elsewhere.
Reportedly, Facebook pulled the plug on the First debuting in the UK in the next few months, starting with EE exclusively, as initially planned. Customers would be informed shortly that pre-orders would not be fulfilled, the sources said.
Mobile News reported that US operator AT&T reduced the upfront price of the First on a 24 month contract from $US99.99 to $US0.99 earlier this month, with reports suggesting the carrier was planning to drop the phone.
An HTC spokesperson said HTC did not comment on rumour or speculation.
