Horizon keeps iPhone videos horizontal

When you’re filming a spare of the moment video clip, it can often seem like a good idea to make some dramatic camera transitions. Then when you watch the video back you’re treated to a disorientating blur. Horizon, a new iOS app aims to put an end to all of that.

Horizon keeps videos horizontal, no matter how shaky the camera gets. It uses the built-in gyroscope fitted to iOS devices to keep filming locked at a 16:9 ratio regardeless of how you move your hands.

It’s a neat solution to a first world problem, although it comes at a sacrifice of lower video resolution. It shoots at 1080 x 608 compared to the 5s’s stock camera playback at 1920 x 1080. A small price to pay for videos that won’t make you want to vomit.
