We recently posted a story about Samsung possibly pushing the release of the rumoured Galaxy S5 forward in response to slow Galaxy S4 sales. We can now put that into a bit of context with August sales charts.
The month is a traditionally slow one for the phone industry, and 2013’s August was no exception. The Galaxy S4 sales were modest, though they had definitely dipped from previous months, hitting 5 million units sold. Surprisingly, this still puts the phone at the top of charts, but still managing to fall short of Samsung’s expectations. The rest of the list is populated by the usual suspects like the post-5s and 5c iPhones and other Samsung devices.
Given these Galaxy S4 sales, we should be seeing the S5 revealed next January, possibly at CES. Check out the full list of global phone sales below.
