Foxconn has a big vision for Firefox OS, and it seems that it’ll be the first manufacturer to bring Firefox OS to tablets — an OS which has previously only been shown on phones.

Firefox and Foxconn’s partnership was announced at Computex  with the aim of bringing hardware and software development closer together.

This will be Foxconn’s first foray into manufacturing and designing their own products, although they will reportedly only be reference designs. Previously, the company has stuck to manufacturing products for other companies, such as Apple’s iPad and iPhone.

With this announcement, Foxconn has become the sixth manufacturer of Firefox OS devices, and has vowed to bring five to market.  Young Liu,  the general manager of Foxconn innovation Digital System business group, claiming that these devices could include smartphones, tablets, laptops and even TVs.

We got the first look of what a Firefox OS tablet could look like at Computex, with Foxconn showing off their reference design — although we were not giving any specs, other than that it has a 10-inch screen.

Sony, LG, ZTE, Huawei and Alcatel have already thrown their weight behind Firefox OS, so you can expect to be spoilt for choice when it finally launches.
