Halo may be a premiere title for Xbox, but it has never launched on Xbox for Windows 8 or Windows Phone… until now.
Microsoft today announced that Halo: Spartan Assault will be heading to PCs, tablets and phones starting in July.
The game isn’t much like Halo on the Xbox though, as instead of being a first person shooter, of which we have come to know and love from the Halo franchise, it’s a top-down arcade style shooter.
Halo: Spartan Assault will be set in the time between Halo 3 and Halo 4, and will have the ability to connect directly to Halo 4 to earn experience points and brand new achievements.
The developers of Halo 4 are on-board co-developing the game with Vanguard Games, whose titles range from Greed Corp to Gatling Gears. The game claims to have “A unique fusion of touch and console-like controls for easy pick-up-and-play gaming,” whilst those playing on a PC also have the ability to use a keyboard and mouse.
In the game you will experience the rise of Commander Sarah Palmer and the first missions of the Spartan Ops program, and all for the low price of $6.99 — although that won’t be universal, so you’ll need to pay $6.99 for each copy.
