Fitbit has said that it has no plans to integrate its fitness tracking app with the iOS 8 health framework from Apple; HealthKit.

The consumer forum section on Fitbit’s website has recently been flooded with questions regarding its compatibility with Apple’s new health framework – which rolled out with iOS 8 last month.

In response to the queries, Fitbit replied that while it thinks HealthKit is an “interesting platform” it is not currently planning to integrate with it.

The wearables manufacturer added: “We will watch [HealthKit] as it matures, looking for opportunities to improve the Fitbit experience.”

However, Fitbit and Apple iPhone users shouldn’t slump their shoulders in defeat just yet – as the company didn’t rule out future compatibility with HealthKit. It even went so far as to ask forum users for feedback on the features they’d like to see integrated with the new health platform from Apple.

“The question we want you to keep in mind when providing feedback is: What do you imagine a HealthKit integration would entail and what do you expect to get out of it?€¦ Your voices are being heard. We’re actively reviewing your responses and providing feedback to our product development team.”

Therefore, if you’re a Fitbit user, this is your chance to get involved and offer some valuable insight into your daily use of your Fitbit wearable and how you think it should sync up with the Apple HealthKit on your iPhone 6.

As 9to5Mac points out, Apple was clearly hoping that Fitbit would be the first to come onboard with its new health and fitness platform – as evidenced in the video unveiling of its HealthKit at WWDC, which clearly shows a screenshot of the Fitbit app.
