This is it. We’ve done it. Nothing else can compare. Fitbit? Jawbone? Nike+? They can all take a back seat, as we have finally reached the pinnacle of the connected fitness tracker: The KGoal – a ‘smart kegel trainer’. Yep, it monitors your vagina.

For the uninitiated, pelvic floor muscles are a large part of many women’s workout routines. The kegel muscle is crucial in women for activities like urination, childbirth and sex, and any damage sustained to it can greatly reduce the comfort of the former two and the pleasure of the latter. To prevent that, in steps the KGoal, which has been described as a ‘Fitbit for your vagina’ by the very company that makes it.

KGoal - function

The KGoal is a small and made of squeezable silicone, and looks a little like some sort of modern-art hand grenade. When connected to your smartphone, it can measure your ‘clench strength’ (stop giggling). The device’s designer Grace Lee claims that 33% of women who perform kegel exercises are in genuine need of feedback on how they’re doing, as the experience is rather hard to monitor and can be completely alien to some.

It’s even got flashing lights and vibration functions built in to help you track your progress. There’s games for the app in the works too, as if the process didn’t sound fun enough already.

It’s a Kickstarter project, so if you want help us take one collective step towards a more utopian future you’ll need to donate. At the time of writing it’s currently raised more than $50,000 of its $90,000 target with a month left, so it needs all the help it can get. A pledge of $99 or more will get you an ‘earlybird special’ release of the product, saving you a fair chunk of cash off the expected retail price of $175.
