EE, previously Everything Everywhere, has announced that it will launch the first 4G LTE network here in the UK on the 30th October. What’s more, the company has also revealed its first LTE handsets.

EE is set to switch on its 4G network in 10 cities across the UK, so if you live in London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow you’ll be able to receive the super-fast mobile internet service first.

If you live in Newcastle, Southampton, Hull, Nottingham, Derby or Belfast you will need to wait until the end of the year.

The EE 4G network is set to offer super-fast mobile internet with speeds of up to 44Mbps, which is seriously quicker than you’ll find on current 3G networks. EE claims to reach 98 per cent of the UK by 2014.

EE has also announced the first 4G LTE smartphones you’ll be able to buy. Alongside the iPhone 5, the Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE, HTC One XL and Huawei Ascend P1 LTE are now on sale from Orange and T-Mobile stores and will run on the 3G network until the 4G network has rolled out, at which point you’ll be migrated over.

The final device in the initial line-up is the Samsung Galaxy Note II LTE, which will be available from 15th October.
