Music festivals like Glastonbury can be nightmare for modern smartphones batteries. Most don’t even last a day never mind an entire weekend. That might not be a problem if you’re an EE customer.
EE will have two ‘Power Bar Exchange’ points at Glastonbury Festival from June 24 – 28 this year, allowing EE customers to swap an empty EE Power Bar for a fully charged one.
The Power Bar was launched earlier this year. It lets users charge their phone on the go and, once the Power Bar’s juice runs out, owners can swap their Bars for a topped up Bar at any designated EE outlet free of charge.
Anyone who wants to take advantage of the Glastonbury ‘Power Exchange’ points must already own an official EE Power Bar and register for a special wristband by June 7. Users can swap their Power Bar once a day.
EE director of brand Spencer McHugh said: “Our Power Bar phone charging initiative began at Glastonbury in 2014 and proved so popular that we launched it last month as a year-round loyalty scheme for all customers. We received over a million requests in just four days, so to say there is huge demand for this simple charging solution is an understatement, and at festivals the need for a fully-charged phone is even greater.
“Last year, we know customers uploaded the equivalent of 1.5 million pictures during the festival and downloaded 2.5 terabytes of data, which is the same as 650,000 headlining tracks. To meet this demand we are rolling out the EE Power Bar swap scheme on an unprecedented scale.”
EE Recharge tent
EE will also have the EE Recharge tent on site offering free mobile phone recharges to those without a Power Bar. This is free for all Glasto-goers, whilst six mobile masts will also be installed to increase the strength of EE’s 4G signal at the festival.
EE will also update its official Glastonbury app with a new look and features. The app will be available in June.
