Who would have thought that of all the revelations at Computex this weekend, two of the most exciting would be budget tablets?
Dell’s two newest offerings could be set to completely destroy the low-cost tablet market. The Dell Venue 7 and Venue 8 are their names, and they both boast some stats which, when compared to their price points, seem completely incredible.
The Venue 7 has a 7-inch, 1280 x 800 resolution display. Powering it is a 1.6GHz Intel processor with 2GB of RAM – specs which can beat out a lot of so-called ‘mid-range’ tablets. It runs the latest version of Android – 4.4 KitKat and is also Wi-Fi enabled, but lacks any 3G or 4G capability.
The Venue 8 ups the ante, with a full-HD 8-inch display, 2GHz quad-core Intel processor (with 2GB of RAM).
It’s the price of the devices which truly stands them apart, though. We’re assured that the Venue 7 should cost £95, with the Venue 8 a little steeper at £120. A US release date of July 1st has been named for both devices, with international dates surely soon to follow.
