Ctrl is world’s first virtual reality drama series

The worlds first virtual reality drama series will be released this Thursday on the Oculus Store, using the Samsung Gear VR headset.

Created by Breaking Fourth, a virtual reality studio in London, the video was previously nominated for the Innovation in experience design award by the Wired Audi Awards. It will also be showcased at the Toronto International Film Festival and has been announced as part of the official selection for the Raindance Film Festival 2016.

Ctrl is a 20 minute drama pitched as ‘dark and engaging’ which takes influence from the London theatre scene. The story is told in full 360-degrees using a Samsung Gear VR headset, where the user can look around in full 360-degrees.The piece has been adapted for the Samsung Gear VR and follows the story of a young game player who challenges others in a stadium, in a bid to win money and support his mother – but as it continues, the story twists into a darker narrative.

The virtual reality drama series was previously premiered to a closed audience in London last July, however this is the first time it will be released commercially. You’ll be able to download it on September 8th via the Oculus Store on your Gear VR headset, for the price of £2.99.
