Carphone Warehouse has announced its latest move into the mobile network market. Its new mobile network, called iD, launches in May and promises affordable 4G and vast roaming capabilities.

iD customers will get free roaming in 22 countries around the globe; including 20 in Europe and two in Australia and the USA.

That’s better than Three’s roaming plan, which only covers 18 countries: 10 in Europe and eight outside of Europe.

iD customers will also get more control over their phone contracts with shock prevention and usage flexibility. Carphone Warehouse has yet to explain what all this means.

All iD plans get 4G as standard and Carphone Warehouse is offering 12 month contracts. An introductory deal includes the Samsung A3 on a 12 month 4G plan with 300 minutes, 5,000 tests and 1GB data for £19.50.
