Recently, Blackberry has been lagging behind its rivals in terms of its apps library.

However, users of the struggling OS should have plenty to smile about now that it has been revealed that the firm has reached a deal with Amazon that could see it gain access to its app library.

When the latest blackberry OS update – version 10.3 – launches in Autumn, it will include access to the Amazon Appstore’s catalogue of over 200,000 Android apps, including the likes of Minecraft, Netflix and other big hitters.

Meanwhile, on the flip side, parts of BlackBerry World’s entertainment sections are due to close down on 21 July, including the music and video sections. As a result, BBOS users will have to look to third-party services for anything new.

BlackBerry’s own app library, however, will remain in tact. And the access to the larger Android library should help soften the blow.
