Archos introduced its Android gaming tablet, the GamePad, last year, complete with a full set of buttons and control sticks to optimise on the go gaming. That was last year though, and in this industry that means its due for an update soon.
FCC leaks have outed a refresh for the 7 inch tablet, going by the name of the GamePad 2. The image above accompanied the leak, which highlights and improved screen and processor for the device. The screen now runs at a 1280 x 800 resolution, while the processor has been upped to a 1.6GHz quad-core backed by 2GB or RAM. A microSD slot has also been added for expanded storage, useful for stack the system a range of games.
Once again the device will be packed with all traditional gaming controls from a d-pad to analog sticks and shoulder buttons. Built-in speakers also feature. As for the likes of battery life, we’re not sure just yet. The last iteration of the Archos device launched back in October 2012, so expect this new addition to hit around the same time.
