It looks like the rumours were true – Apple has confirmed that it will be holding a press conference on October 22nd. That’s a week from today, if you hadn’t noticed.

The company has been sending out invites to press outlets, complete with the above picture. It states that the company still has “a lot to cover”, no doubt referencing the not too distant announcements of the iPhone 5s and 5c in November.

We’re expecting the event to play host to the reveal of both the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2. The latter is expected to have a new retina display while the former should be seeing some more tweaks in its design. Oh, and it should feature TouchID.

This news also confirms that the company is making a play to undercut the other two events this day. Firstly, the 22nd marks the release of Microsoft’s Surface 2 tablets, while we’re also anticipating Nokia’s own event to announce six new devices.

It’s going to be a heavy day – someone get the coffee.
