There’s been an abundance of Apple iPhone 7 leaks recently that seem to have flooded the internet. We’ve rounded them all up here in one place for you guys to take in.
Models
New leaks released only days ago show that the iPhone 7 could be coming in three variants, as legendary French leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer got hold of an image showing three different Touch ID components of varying sizes. Interestingly, the first two are the same size, indicating that the iPhone 7 could be coming in two models of differing specifications.
Design
With a number of iPhone 7 cases allegedly leaking, we can presume that the design of the new handsets will be pretty similar to what we’re used to. This means a metal unibody and curved edges, plus the usual array of colours available.
One of the more interesting things on the rear was a smart connector, which can be seen as three dots along the bottom of the handset. This allows various accessories to be attached to the handset, perhaps emulating a continuum-like experience with docking stations and other productivity solutions.
The home button could also be about to get a fairly radical change, with a touch-sensitive surface replacing what we are currently used to. This would allow multi-touch support for opening various applications such as Siri and Fitness.
Camera
According to recent rumours, there’s every possibility that the new iPhone handsets could have a dual camera setup on the rear. The case renders showed this in detail and we also got some leaks about what could be inside. South Korean supplier Innotek could be supplying the dual sensor; the company previously worked on the camera that shipped inside the LG G5. As such, the implementation is likely to be similar to the LG, with each sensor acting independently rather than in partnership. There’s also rumours that the iPhone 7 camera could include a physical zoom, with moving lens elements providing closer shots without digital degradation.
Connectivity
The headphone rumour is one of the more interesting Apple iPhone 7 leaks, since it keeps constantly changing. Earlier reports claimed that it would scrap the jack altogether and use the lightning port instead. Fresh rumours that cropped up today showing the internal hardware modules seem to counteract this, saying that Apple has ‘had a change of heart’ and decided to re-include the connector. They also showed the possibility of a dual-sim connector, which may or may not double as a microSD slot. If this turns out to be true, it’s really big news.
Battery
The iPhone 7 could be about to get a major battery increase, with rumours pointing to a 3,500mAh cell in the iPhone 7 Plus. There’s also talk of the company implementing their own wireless charging technology, that would allow devices to juice up without needing to be placed directly onto a charging plate.
Storage
Apple could be about to add a new 256GB option into the market, usurping the current 128GB model as king by quite a margin. This is likely a big indicator that the 16GB model would get scrapped.
