With the iPhone 5 rumoured for release next month, leaked specifications seem to indicate that Apple will be playing it safe with a dual-core processor, rather than making the new iPhone a quad-core powerhouse.
The team at 9to5mac claim that “reliable sources” have confirmed that the new iPhone 5 will use a 1440mAh battery, only a small increase from the 1430mAh battery seen in the current Apple iPhone 4S.
This has led to speculation that Apple won’t be making the iPhone 5 a quad-core phone, as it appears to lack the power needed to drive such a device, without sacrificing all-important battery life.
With the quad-core Samsung Galaxy S III and HTC One X running on 2100mAh and 1800mAh batteries, respectively, it seems unlikely that Apple would opt for a lower-powered battery otherwise.
But with Apple keeping as tight-lipped as ever regarding the iPhone 5, we’ll have to wait and see what it has to offer when the new iPhone goes on sale later in the year.
