Apple iPads launching in September not October?

In a dramatic turn of events, Apple may now be prepping a September announcement for the next-generation iPad and iPad Mini. According to a Bloomberg report, the next iPad models could launch the same day as the iPhone 5S and 5C.

The September 10 event had been set aside for the launch of the next generation iPhone(s) but deep within a Bloomberg report about Apple’s first retail store in Japan, it was revealed that the company plans a joint announcement.

“The Cupertino, California-based company plans to introduce new versions of its phone and tablet at a Sept. 10 event, a person familiar with the matter has said”

If we’re going to see the next generation iPads in September, we could see an iPod and Mac refresh at the October event, both of which are planned for an upgrade.

It would be strange for a September announcement for the iPad though, with last year’s event also taking place in September — a date that was already earlier than the usual yearly cycle.

You shouldn’t look into the report too much, and may have just been a mistake on the part of the Bloomberg reporter — given this is a huge contradiction to the rumoured October release date.

Whether an iPad launch is set for October or September we can be sure that there isn’t much time left on the clock.
