An Apple health tracker could be on its way next year with advanced health tracking capabilities not see on the Apple Watch, and will not be the Apple Watch 2.
According to Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, Apple will gear up to launch a dedicated device that will help fulfil Steve Jobs’ vision of fixing a disjointed healthcare system [US]. EDW claims the new device will “accurately collect users’ personal daily life including heart rate, pulse, blood sugar changes and other information.”
Current Apple Director of Fitness and Health technologies, Jay Blahnik, and Apple’s health department has been working on the new device for apparently two years. Apple has been building a bit of a health reputation with platforms such as HealthKit, ResearchKit and CareKit being developed by the Cupertino company.

The blood sugar level monitor would make the device incredibly unique as no popular wearable offers such a monitor. Extreme diabetes sufferers have to prick their fingers several times a day to ensure correct dosage of insulin.
If Apple could introduce a device that can monitor blood sugar level without drawing blood, it would be deemed revolutionary, convenient, but accuracy questions would arise.
EDW go on to say Apple are preparing for a 2017 launch, and are now talking to suppliers to finalise the product. Suppliers such as: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Foxconn, TPK, Zhen Ding Technology, and more.
A form factor was not revealed, but if proved to be true we could be seeing a fitness band in the works. It’s all speculation at the moment and of course, with any rumour, we should all be taking it with a pinch of salt. But Apple are known for being revolutionary and it’s about time the manufacturer come out with something else to amaze the world.
