With a two inch screen, the ability to make and receive calls (including over VoIP), 2.5G connectivity, a 416MHz processor, a maximum 16GB of memory (through an SD card), Wi-Fi, email and text capability, GPS, Bluetooth and compatibility with more than 1,000 apps via Google Play, Androidly claim to have produced the first true Smartwatch on the market.

The firm, founded by a group of young entrepreneurs, all under the age of 25, sought to create a completely independent device. Other Smartwatches on the market such as those produced by Sony work by syncing with a Smartphone and so cannot function alone. Androidly’s device however offers the full range of functions you would expect of a Smartphone.

The device is manufactured   in China and is available through the Androidly website for £150, sim free. If sales are strong the company have said that they plan to launch a second version in 12-18months which can be sold through retailers.

With Google and Samsung planning to launch similar devices Androidly may be able to corner the Smartwatch market a year early.
