Android says they have fixed OS security back-door

Last week What Mobile reported that Bluebox Security had uncovered a weakness in the Android OS that could expose up to 900 million devices to attack, allowing hackers to gain personal information on users.

Today, Google’s Android Communications Manager Gina Scigliano announced that the bug had been dealt with and all relevant partners had been issued with patches to update their customers phones with, effectively removing the issue.

The weakness would only have been an issue for users who chose to download apps from other sources than the licensed Google Play store but given that a great many Android users acquire apps from other sources the bug was still recognised as a significant risk.
