Android Nougat manual camera controls will apparently make an appearance in future Nougat previews, after going missing in the latest developer previews.
Google has taken a while to finally get the non-groundbreaking feature in stock Android. Currently manual controls can be found in the camera app of many Android skins, it’s quite shocking how Google failed to implement one until now. The Google Nexus 6P has one of the best cameras on a smartphone, but is let down considerably by the stock Android camera app.
Stock Android offers arguably one of the best Android experiences, it’s about to get better with Google fixing up one of stock Android’s biggest weakness.
Exposure controls appears when tapping on the screen to focus, according to Android Police. A slider on the right allows you to adjust the exposure, and it seems pretty straightforward. Sliding up allows in more light and down for the opposite effect.
Devices currently running stock Android can download third party apps to gain manual controls and full control of their intended snaps. But with Android Nougat coming this Autumn, a fully optimised camera app could be coming to you soon. Although Android Nougat manual camera controls has not yet been confirmed for the official release.
That is if you’re using a device newer than the Nexus 5, according to leakster Evan Blass, Android Nougat will not be coming to the three year old device.
Android 7.0 releases next month, with the 8/5 security patch. Sorry Nexus 5 owners, no Nougat for you ?
