Mobile game developer DeNA has announced via its financial report that the company is still on track to release five Nintendo mobile games by 2016.

DeNA has today confirmed that despite the loss of Satoru Iwata, the company will still be pressing forward with the release of Nintendo mobile games. Tokyo-based Kantan Games CEO Serkan Toto translated the conversation, which occurred during the companies first quarter financial report.

“I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard Iwata-san passed,” he said. “We will try to honour Iwata-san by executing as good as we can”. The company plans to release their first mobile game in 2015, with four more scheduled shortly after in 2016.

The mobile games will be based on various famous Nintendo franchises, though the exact details of the titles are yet to be announced. DeNA refused to go into specifics but did say, “we are making good progress with Nintendo”.

The partnership between Nintendo and DeNa was initially announced in March this year, with Iwata acting as a major catalyst for thew deal. While some Nintendo fans were unhappy with his decision, it’s good to see the company standing by him and standing by his vision.
