Though this is well-designed with good features, its processor is not the fastest

The RX17 Pro is a beautifully designed phone that we had the pleasure to review in green – a colour that changes to turquoise in certain light conditions. The curved body is easy to grip and it feels like a device above its price bracket, though it’s another story under the hood. Pushing that premium feel are features such as the in-screen fingerprint sensor, face-unlocking, a triple-camera lens and a fast-charging battery. Biometric access to the RX17 is incredibly quick straight out the box.
We saw no problems we anticipated from the in-screen sensor, given that it’s relatively new technology. As long as your finger is clean, you will gain access with ease and there’s no need to worry about the amount of pressure applied to the sensor. What’s really impressive is the 3,700mAh battery, which will last you all day and some of the evening. When it comes to charging, the RX17 impressed us by reaching 100 per cent in 40 minutes with its 50W charger. On the other hand, its mid-range Snapdragon 710 processor is less powerful than the Snapdragon 845 on some other devices.

What Oppo Say:
It can be said the beauty of the night is more delicate than the day. The RX17 Pro brings you deeper into night’s most enchanting moments, with powerful night-shot settings that coax light through the dark to gently capture their allure. With its F1.5/ F2.4 smart aperture cameras and OIS optical stabilisation, even the faintest rays converge in clear, luminous images, and its AI Ultra-clear Engine means the press of a key is all you need to frame the night in moving clarity. When night falls, let the RX17 Pro unveil the beauty around you.
Elegance meets enchantment in the RX17 Pro’s Radiant Mist casing with fog lighting that flows between deep blue and purple hues. Its 3D misted glass and inner light condensation blend and shift with changes of light and shadow around you, giving you a dreamy, immersive aesthetic that moves with you. Aside from its beauty, the RX17 Pro’s frosted exterior is a pleasure to touch with its soft, grainy texture that’s reminiscent of beach glass. Its 3D misted glass casing is crafted with advanced surface-etching techniques, producing a finely faceted texture that rests like satin in your palm. Fingerprint-resistant and durable, it’s designed to enchant your eye while pleasing your sense of touch.
What We say:
While it looks like a premium phone, the RX17 Pro does have the issue of having a mid-range Snapdragon 710 processor while sporting an expensive price tag. Devices such as the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro and OnePlus 6T may be older, but are cheaper and employ the more powerful Snapdragon 845. Nevertheless, zooming through laps on racing game Asphalt 8 or shooting through a couple of rounds of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds saw little lag, decent frame rates and smooth enough graphics. But if you’re a heavy gamer, you might want to look elsewhere for more power under the hood. The camera is great and makes good use of all three lenses on board. Colours won’t be as vibrant as on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, for example, but you will still get good detail and colour contrast with this mid-range phone.
The RX17 Pro is a good smartphone for those looking for a host of new technologies, such as in-screen fingerprint sensors and face-unlocking, plus some key basics such as long battery life with fast charging and a beautiful design. But there are better and cheaper options out there, such as the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro and the OnePlus 6T.
