Plane Finder AR app review

Some apps are pure novelties, but using technology that would have been unimaginable just a few years ago. Plane Finder AR is just such an app. In a nutshell, it lets you point your iPhone camera at planes flying in the sky, to find out where they’re going.

How? It’s based on a service called Plane Finder that tracks plane locations, and the ‘ADS-B’ signals that they transmit with their flight number, speed, altitude and destination. The app then uses location based tech to identify your position and direction, to figure out which plane you’re pointing at. A marvellous party trick, at the very least.
