A recent interview between the Invetec chairman and Taipei Times has confirmed that Xiaomi are planning a laptop launch in the near future.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is developing a laptop, according to mobile electronics manufacturer Inventec. Company chairman Richard Lee revealed the information during an interview with Taipei Times, where he revealed that Xiaomi was likely to adopt the same marketing strategy as previously demonstrated with the smartphone range. Inventec assembles all current Xiaomi devices, so the partnership seems like a natural progression.

Lee also revealed an expected release date for the new laptop, believing it to debut sometime next year. “We will start shipping Xiaomi’s notebook computers in the first or second quarter of next year,” he added.

Xiaomi continues to enjoy huge success with its smartphone line. Last year, the company recorded a 227 percent increase in shipments, mainly in the Chinese market. With their continued vision of global domination, a laptop can only them expand further.
