Virgin Mobile is going to preload the application on future handsets, while others will need to download a Java application separately.
It’s free for six months, after which time Virgin Mobile says it will set a fee that is ‘competitive’. We hope they’re aware of the fact that 3 has been doing it for free for eons, or they may end up looking a bit silly!
A range of new Instant Messenger handsets have been released in time for Christmas;
- Samsung U600 (downloadable app)
- Samsung G600 (downloadable app)
- Nokia 6300 (downloadable app)
- Sony Ericsson W910i (preinstalled app)
Further compatible handsets will be announced in 2009.
