Chinese smartphone manufacturer announces Vernee Mars, packing in quite a bit of power for a presumably cheap price.
Judging on the image, it looks to be a glass front with presumably 2.5D gorilla glass. We can see some subtle metal trim around the edges, which may or may not carry around to the back. We expect it’s more likely that the device will carry a contrasting glass or plastic finish on the rear.
Vernee Mars will have 6GB RAM
The handset will include a whopping 6GB RAM and the MediaTek Helio P20, a new mid-range performance chipset that supports the latest LPDDR4X memory. Being that that P10 was on a par with the 650, we’d assume that the P20 matches the Snapdragon 652 in terms of power, though there’s no official benchmarks of the chip currently in the wild for comparison. It will also be interesting to see if the Mars ships with RAM that benefits from the new standard.
Other details are pretty scarce (the release they sent us was pretty sparse), but expect it to be pretty cheap like most other Vernee handsets. Pricing information has not yet been revealed but the Chinese manufacturer did reveal release date information. Expect the Vernee Mars to go on sale starting in November. It’s likely that it won’t be available in western markets specifically, unless purchased through special re-sellers.
