Unleash your inner artist – Android finally gets collage app Layout

Instagram users on Android will finally get a dedicated app for making their own collages, as the company has just made the popular iOS app Layout available for the competing operating system.

The new app carries across all the functions of its iOS sibling, allowing you to make collages with up to nine different images at once. It also includes 10 preset templates and in-app editing tools so users can customise their collage layouts. They’ve even carried across the in-app shooting mode which takes a burst of pictures in rapid succession before arranging them into a Instagram-friendly set of images.

Interestingly, Android is also getting a new feature that is currently unavailable on iOS, named Structure. This new editing tool was baked into Instagram following its Tuesday update and allows users to “brings out details and textures in photos”. While it may just be a couple of additional photo editing features, it’s refreshing to see Android getting the jump first.

Layout first arrived on iOS back in March and enjoyed a lot of success, primarily because photo collages were already popular on the application. With the addition of Android support, that can only continue to grow.
