UK customers will be able to ditch their carrier if pricing goes up

Often you find yourself half way through a contract just to find that the carrier is once again ramping up the pricing — meaning you’ll have to pay even more each month. Apparently this happens all too often, and Ofcom has had enough.

Ofcom is now advising consumers and networks that if the prices go up, then customers can leave without penalty. It doesn’t just apply to your mobile network though, with broadband and landline customers also getting the opt-out option if prices rise during your contract.

Networks do have three months to upgrade the price without giving its customers the opt-out option though, and you also won’t get the opt-out option when terms and conditions change, or you’re charged more for any fault of your own.
