Uber has launched its first standalone app dedicated to delivering food.
Uber as a service has already expanded pretty heavily since it was first introduced, beginning as a simple app-based service which now spans snack and household item delivery. However, the company has lacked a dedicated food delivery service to help it compete with the likes of Deliveroo and other competitors.
It was rumoured a couple of months ago that the company was working on a standalone version of the popular Uber app that would be dedicated specifically to food and today we’ve got it in the flesh. Uber Eats is their new service that allows you to request an order from your local restaurant and then have it delivered by a local Uber driver. An Instant Delivery menu is also available, guaranteeing that your food will be there within under 10 minutes.
The service isn’t yet available here in the UK and is currently been rolled out slowly across the United States and Canada. So far, you can use it in Toronto and Los Angeles, with Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Melbourne, New York, Paris, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C expected to follow soon. We have no doubt it will come to the UK eventually, so keep your eyes peeled!
