Three scraps roaming charges in Australia, Ireland and more

One of the worst things about going on holiday is the discovery that keeping in contact with folks at home is either impossible or incredibly expensive. It seems that the executives at Three feel your pain announcing today that  it is scrapping roaming charges in seven countries.

The company’s new ‘Feel At Home’ initiative enables Three customers to use their typical UK plan for no extra cost, so if you have unlimited data with Three — you’ll be able to use all that data abroad at no extra cost.

If you hoped to get away with calling non-UK numbers for free though, that will not be case, with those still being charged at the standard roaming rates — Three has also added the caveat that tethering will not be permitted.

The countries which are having their roaming charges scrapped are Australia, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Hong Kong, Sweden and Denmark.

‘Feel At Home’ will be available to all Three UK customers, whether you’re a Pay Monthly, Pay-As-You-Go or Business customer, and it requires no action on your part.

When you land in one of the specified countries you will immediately have ‘Feel At Home’ enabled, no matter the network you’re connected to in your destination.
