According to recent statistics from Ofcom, Three was the UK’s most complained-about network operator in the first quarter of 2012, with 0.14 complaints per 1,000 customers received during the three-month period.

This was a slight improvement from the 0.16 complaints per 1,000 customers which Three received at the tail-end of 2011, with the majority of complaints concerning disputes over charges and customer service.

This means that Three has now replaced Orange as the most UK’s complained operator, with Orange reducing its complaints from 0.17 per 1,000 customers in Q4 2011 to 0.07 in Q1 2012.

Virgin Mobile also achieved a figure of 0.07 complaints per 1,000 customers, while Vodafone and T-Mobile each received 0.08 complaints per 1,000 customers, compared to 0.07 in the previous quarter.

And according to Ofcom, O2 is now the UK’s least complained about operator for the sixth quarter in a row, with just 0.02 complaints per 1,000 customers – a figure it has maintained since the start of 2011.

Whether O2 will be able to hold onto this title for a seventh quarter remains to be seen. But for now at least, it’s worth bearing these figures in mind if you’re considering moving to a new operator in the near future.
