Tesco’s Hudl tablet has sold out twice due to greater than expected demand since launching on September 23, the supermarket has said.

The news follows reports that 35,000 of the seven-inch tablets were sold in its first 48 hours.

The tablet has a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, and a 2MP front facing and 3MP rear facing camera.

Tesco head of consumer and broadcast media Treeva Fenwick said: “Sales of Hudl have surpassed all expectations and we’re thrilled that customers like it.

“It is the fastest selling tablet we have sold at Tesco and we are working with our suppliers to get more in to meet demand.”

Tesco chief digital officer Michael Comish said: “They are flying off the shelves so quickly we’ve twice run out of stock.”
