Microsoft will roll out a Surface Pro 3 update to fix a battery capacity problem some users have been facing for a few weeks.

Complaints about the issue stated how the hybrid device was showing a lower percentage of battery, than what was expected. The issue only affected some users, thankfully Microsoft has confirmed it’s not a hardware issue, but rather a software problem that will be rectified.

The software fix will roll out as soon as Microsoft irons out the bugs in its testing. Currently Microsoft are asking users to refrain from going through the arduous path of requesting a new device, but instead wait for the Surface Pro 3 update.

Surface Pro 3 update confirmed by Microsoft

In an Answers.com posting, Microsoft has confirmed the update is finished in a message of thanks.

The post said: “We’ll publish the update as soon as it has passed our quality assurance process. For now, you should not consider replacing your device as an update is pending.”

A time frame for the update was not stated, hopefully Microsoft rolls it out soon as there can be nothing worse than owning a £400 device that will crap out on you at vital times.
