Sony Ericsson has launched LiveView, a Bluetooth mini display that can wirelessly display information from your phone, such as new messages, Tweets or Facebook updates.

Following on from previous accessories, such as the range of MBW Bluetooth watches, produced and sold in conjunction with Fossil, LiveView can be ‘worn’ in a range of ways, such as on a watch strap or on a keychain, plus allow expansion with compatible apps.

LiveView, which will be released in Q4, just in time for the Christmas gift market, will work on most Android devices and not just those made by Sony Ericsson.

You will also be able to use the accessory to control the music player on your phone, or check upcoming calendar appointments.

The Sony Ericsson LiveView is the first accessory from Sony Ericsson to be compatible with the open Android platform, giving developers an opportunity to be creative and develop their own apps for use with the device.

A LiveView Manager application will automatically scan Android Market to look for LiveView enabled applications to present them to the user in a single location.

It will be available in stores from Q4, as well as in ‘Experience Packs’ that will come bundled with dedicated applications and accessories for a specific area, such as the ‘Sony Ericsson Fitness Pack’ that will come with a sport app and carrying case ideal for exercising.
