Time for some facts and figures of the positive kind. Research company Strategy Analytics has revealed its batch of findings for Q3 2013, recording impressive growth in smartphone shipments and huge successes for the likes of Samsung.

Smartphone shipments were up 45 percent from year-over-year. That takes total shipments to just over a quarter billion.

But of all the companies that contribute to this figure, Samsung benefitted the most. According to the stats, the company owned 35.2 percent of the market share in the quarter, equalling out to 88.4 million units sold. Apple came a distant second at 13.4 percent, though still shifted an impressive 33.8 million units.

The likes of Huawei, LG and Lenovo all followed on, collectively holding about 15% of the market share while other, unspecified groups took up 37.3 percent.

Now that the holiday season is upon us, expect the Q4 2013 results to continue this trend of growth.
