Psychologists at a top London university are developing a smartphone application to help deal with writers block.

We’ve all had it, the dreaded writers block of doom. You get halfway through something, only to lose complete train of thought. It’s the thing that keeps creative writers from finishing their first novel, or musicians from nailing the last verse.

Psychologists at Goldsmiths, University of London, want to put an end to the issue once and for all. Dr Sophie von Stumm is heading up a massive two-year project that will see a series of tests conducted in order to research the common causes of the condition. They will then compile the results and curate a series of exercises and tips for enhancing imagination and increasing creativity.

The tests will explore the deepest mysteries of our imaginations, while also looking at genetic and environmental factors which may impede our ability. Stumm then has plans to release the findings in a freely available iPhone application, so that anyone can take advantage of the research. The app will offer helpful tips and exercises to enhance creativity and overcome writers block
