Google may have just trumped its own Glass hardware. The company has announced a smart contact lens that’s designed for medical use.

Using miniaturized electronics it can measure a lot of facts about your body. This includes looking at the levels of glucose in your tears, which could provide essential information for diabetics.

While the design isn’t finished, Google has said that it’s looking to impliment tiny LED lights for notifications.

It’s certainly a fascinating prospect that could greatly improve the lives of those that need it. We have no idea when the company could bring this to the mainstream, but let’s hope we keep seeing this smart contact lens grow.
