Shared plans coming to UK on July 17 thanks to EE

How many of us have our entire family on contract? Gets pretty costly doesn’t it? Well now there’s a way to cut down those costs, if EE is to be believed, with the announcement of shared plans.

According to EE, shared-plans can save up to £38 per month when compared to regular individual plans.

The new shared plans enable users to connect up to five separate devices to just one plan, and whilst it was designed with families in mind, EE claims that it has also thought heavily about couples and multi-device owners as well.

Shared 4GEE Plans are due to start going on sale on 17 July, with prices starting at £31 for the lead sharer, and then £12 a month for each individual SIM Only phone sharer. For those of you who also want to add a laptop or tablet into the mix, then that will start at just £5 for a SIM Only contract.

The way shared plans work is you all receive unlimited calls and unlimited texts, whilst sharing the data across your devices — so be warned if you have a serial data hog on your plan, you may find yourself with less data to play with.

If you join EE’s shared plans before 30 September 2013, then you’ll also get the added benefit of more data for less money. For instance, those of you who previously would have received 5GB of data for £51 per month, will now receive a whopping 20GB of data.

Some of you may be worried that you’re more likely to get a bill shock at the end of the month because someone has gone over the data limit, but Pippa Dunn says this will not happen with EE, since everyone in the shared plan will get a text when they’re approaching their data limit.

Shared plans are currently incredibly common to find over in the US, but this is the first of its kind in the UK.
