Samsung S7 to have a powerful audio chip

According to leaks the Samsung Galaxy S7 could be coming with a superior digital-to-audio (DAC) converter.

The DAC in question is the ESS SABRE 9018AQ2M, a powerful chip to be used in mobile devices, giving better audio clarity and less power consumption. An upgrade to the technology is expected but this is quite a jump from Samsung as it will turn the S7 into a “hi-fi” phone.

This rumour goes hand in hand with speculations that Samsung may be partnering with Jay Z’s Tidal music streaming service. Tidal are known for their high quality music, Tidal pride themselves on only streaming music the way it was meant to be heard by the artist. This emphasis on music will be another way for Samsung to keep up to it’s competitors. HTC have recently announced the HTC One A9 which supports FLAC tracks and excellent speaker and headphone quality.
