Samsung launches eight and ten inch Galaxy Tab 3

Samsung have announced the Galaxy Tab 3 in eight and 10.1 inches.

Following on from the announcement (via the company’s website) of the Galaxy Tab 3 seven inch, the company-that-shall-not-rest has said it will release an eight inch and 10.1 inch version of the tablet as well.

The seven inch was seen by some as a challenge to Google’s lauded Nexus 7, so perhaps the two new models are Samsung’s way of upping the ante, or just its usual practice of releasing everything under the sun to see what’ll make consumers coo.

Available in the UK later this year, the tablet models would come in the standard three versions – 4G/LTE, 3G and WiFi, with details, alas as per usual, announced in due course, Samsung said.

The eight inch

Running a 1.5GHz dual core processor with 1.5GHz RAM and Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), the eight inch tablet would measure 209.8 x 123.8mm and be 7.4mm thick, weighing 314g (for the WiFi version).

The screen resolution was 1280 x 800 at 189 ppi pixel density.

The camera would feature a 5MP rear facing camera with a 1.3MP front facing camera, 16GB of internal memory (depending on the version) with microSD options and a 4,450mAh battery.

The 10.1 inch

The 10.1 inch tablet would feature a 1.6GHz dual core processor with 1GB RAM, running Android 4.2 also.  The screen resolution was 1280 x 800 with pixel density of 149ppi.

The tablet would have a rear facing 3MP camera and 16GB memory (depending on the version) with microSD expansion options, as well as a 6800mAh battery.

The device would measure 243.1 x 176.1 and be just under 8mm thick (7.95mm), weighing 510g (WiFi model).
