Details of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy J2 have leaked onto the internet courtesy of a popular benchmarking website.
The Samsung Galaxy J2 is an upcoming budget-handset from the company. It follows the recent limited release of the Galaxy J5 and J7, which are available in select parts of Europe. Samsung are obviously gearing up a for an imminent reveal, as the handset has been fully tested on benchmarking website GFXBench.
The results show that it will feature a 1.3GHz quad-core CPU and a Mali-T720GPU. It comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage (minus the OS partition of course). The camera is fairly poor by todays standards, offering a resolution just shy of 5 megapixels. It’s capable of shooting video at the odd resolution of 1280 x 960, though it will likely record at 720p. The 1.8 megapixel front camera is a little better considering this is a budget phone, however the capped resolution of 800 x 600 is pretty low.
Another odd revelation in these tests was the screen size, which is listed at a whopping 5.7 inches. That makes it one big device. The resolution is equally questionable, coming in at only 960 x 540. On a panel of this size, that doesn’t even hit the 200 DPI mark, meaning there’s going to be a fair bit of pixelation. Previous rumours put the screen as closer to 4.5 inches, so it’s possible that Samsung could be intentionally misleading us.
We’ll have to wait for more information before we can say for sure.
