Samsung Bixby has today launched in the UK after first being available in the USA and South Korea.

Samsung has expanded its personal voice assistant to more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, including the UK, Australia, Canada and South Africa.

Bixby is a direct competitor to Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, allowing direct interaction without physical user input. The Korean electronics giant has tried to differentiate themselves by including deeper cross-platform commands that allow communication between apps. With Bixby, it’s possible to ask the service more than a single question. Users can snowball multiple commands which, as long as the applications support the assistant, can be completed in one fluent move.

There’s also a quick command feature, which can assign multiple features to a single voice prompt. For example, saying “good night” could silence the handset and set an alarm ready for work the next day.

Samsung Bixby was first announced back in March alongside the Galaxy S8, though British users have been unable to the service since. Currently, there isn’t all that may apps which support which support Bixby aside from the included Samsung variants. This is expected to grow as the company further expands the service to different languages and devices.
