In a world of Instagram and people taking pictures and videos keeping these memories alive why not take things a step further and share these memories with the whole family. In this review, we are covering the Qumi Z1V. This is a portable projector that can share pictures, videos, live streams and even audio if you wanted to simply use it as a speaker.
After giving this a test for a few weeks and yes we did watch the cricket world cup on this projector in the garden. First impressions are the Z1V is a fantastic bit of tech that provides a decent sounding speaker that is lightweight but also provides very good quality images or video footage when projected. I also found it very useful that I could use it plugged in or wireless if I wanted to use it outside.
Key Features include:
- WVGA 1080p Support
- BT Speaker
- 2 Hour Battery
- Multimedia player
- Bluetooth Connection
- HDMI Port Ready
- USB flash Drive reader
- MicroSD memory expansion
- 30,000 hours of operation
The Z1V gives you a 480P resolution and allows a screen size of up to 75 inches and allows you to connect your laptop for a stream.
Design-wise its lightweight at only 660grams and looks great a grey fabric cloth wrapped around makes look smart. On the back of the device, you have the following: Power input, USB input, HDMI input. Then you have a plastic grill that covers the fan and then above that manual rest button, Micro SD slot and headphone jack.
On top of the projector is where you have the rest of the controls that include the navigation pad, and then 4 buttons one in each corner that includes: Home, Back & Bluetooth connector.
On the side of the device, you also have a focus to correct the zoom.
In the box, you also get the following as well as the projector you get a remote control, cable for power, carry case and quick start guide and warranty.
The Z1V can be used as close as 1.6ft and as far as 77.f ft was away perfect for that outdoor use. The device also has a brightness level of up to 250 lumens and 10,000:1 contrast ratio.
We tested the device using our external hard drive via the USB port and found it great for viewing pictures as well as video. The multimedia player in this device really gives you an extension to any mobile device you might have.
When using this device you can adjust settings such as the following:
- Display
- Audio
- Image
- Timer
Sound-wise I am impressed with the built-in 2x5w speakers that create a great sound in addition to the visual elements of this device and the fact you can use the projector simply as a speaker.
So overall, it’s a great device that allows you to use USB-C, Micro SD slot and HDMI ports for you to use any of your devices to showcase your video, audio or pictures. What makes this even better is you get up to 30,000 hours via the LED light source meaning you can use this device time and time again. Another benefit of using this projector is how easy it is to use.
The only negative I feel for this device is the cost at £423.60 via https://www.personalprojector.co.uk I feel it could put people off but it’s a great product so if you invest in this it will continue to entertain over and over again. Now what I personally loved this device for was being able to watch the recent Cricket World Cup outside for the whole family to watch in my garden.
