The search for a Microsoft CEO has taken much, much longer than we were expecting it to. Originally thought to be done before the end of last year, we’re only now hearing new reports that Satya Nadella could get the job.

Bloomberg (among others) is reporting that Nadella, the current head of Microsoft’s cloud services, is likely to take the spot. Apparently the deal is yet to be finalised though Nadella is emerging as a strong candidate.

On top of all of that, it’s been reported that current chariman Bill Gates is also on his way out. He will allegedly be replaced by John Thompson.

Apparently the new CEO could be named as early as next week. These recent reports make little mention of former Nokia boss Stephen Elop’s position in the runnings.
