Oppo has struck a partnership with the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) to become the first-ever official smartphone partner of Wimbledon.

The partnership will last for five years and sees Oppo become the first-ever Asian partner of the Championships.

It follows Oppo unveiling its Reno smartphone series in Zurich on April 24, which includes the Reno 5G smartphone expected in the UK this summer through EE.

Oppo says that it will use its flagship Find X and Reno smartphones to “bring to life the beauty of Wimbledon” as the brand looks to grow its awareness in the European markets.

Last year Oppo entered four European markets including France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands, while arriving in the UK in January this year.

The best photos taken during Wimbledon this year will be selected for inclusion in an Oppo Wimbledon photo gallery, while Oppo will also award a ‘Breakthrough Award’ to young players who perform strongly during the tournament that takes place between July 1 and 14.

Commenting on the partnership Oppo vice president Brian Shen said: “We are thrilled to announce we are the first Asian partner of the Championships, Wimbledon.

“We are confident this partnership will further strengthen our expansion plans across the European marketplace and in turn our communication globally.”

The launch of the partnership was sealed by a ceremonial signing between Shen, AELTC committee member and four-time Wimbledon semi-finalist Tim Henman, plus AELTC commercial and media director Mick Desmond.
