OnePlus launches 9 Series flagship and first-ever smartwatch

Latest flagship will be available to pre-order from 15:30 today with open sales beginning on March 31

OnePlus has today announced the launch of its latest OnePlus 9 Series flagship and its first wearable for global markets. 

The Chinese vendor’s latest device will feature a Hasselblad camera as part of a long-term R&D partnership with the Swedish camera manufacturer. 

Clear emphasis has been placed by OnePlus on improving the camera of the flagship which boasts a 48MP main camera and 16-times the pixel count of a standard 1080p camera for high-quality videos. It can shoot at 4K 120fps and has a custom-designed IMX789 sensor and has a 50MP ultra-wide camera that uses a Sony IMX766 sensor. 

The device also features an 8MP telephoto lens and a dedicated monochrome camera which adds detail to black and white photos. 

The OnePlus 9 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform and features the X60 5G Modem-RF System which delivers faster, low-latency 5G mobile speeds using 5G carrier aggregation across FDD and TDD. OnePlus says the X60 reduces power consumption and heat, improves performance and battery life on its latest device. 

The 9 Pro features a 6.55-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel and the brightness of the phone can reach up to 1,100 nits with HDR10+ certification.  

65T Warp Charging charges the device’s 4,500mAh battery from 1-100 per cent in 29 minutes. The power adapted included in the box can be used to turbocharge non-OnePlus devices including laptops, tablets, and more up to 45W using USB PD or PPS. 

The OnePlus 9 Pro comes in three colourways including Morning Mist, Pine Green, and Stellar Black, and offers an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. 

OnePlus Watch 

The vendor also announced the release of the first-ever OnePlus smartwatch. 

The OnePlus Watch will feature a round design and a 46mm case crafted from stainless steel, with 2.5D curved glass on the face of the watch. 

The watch offers all-day power in just five minutes or a week’s power in just 20 minutes with its 402mAh battery. 

It features 5ATM = IP68 water and dust resistance with 110+ workout types including automatic detection for jogging and running. The watch also has a built-in GPS and tracks blood oxygen saturation, stress detection, and rapid heart rate on the OnePlus Health app. 

Availability

The OnePlus 9 Pro will be available for pre-order on OnePlus.com, Amazon, John Lewis, and Three from March 23 at 15:30 UK time, with open sales from March 31.
