Industry regulator Ofcom has adjusted the existing Wireless Telegraphy Act licences to allow the use of the 900 and 1800MHz spectrum for 3G/UMTS services.

The change will potentially improve both coverage and capacity for 3G networks, including mobile broadband, while providing an improvement to indoor and rural coverage when using the 900MHz spectrum.
